DIY yogurt and frankincense face mask uses lactic acid, zinc, and essential oils to exfoliate, hydrate, calm acne, and reduce wrinkles for smooth, radiant, anti aging skin in minutes.

Plain, organic, full fat yogurt will make the skin on your face smoother than a baby’s bottom. It’s rich in lactic acids that will improve the appearance of rough skin and make it smooth; exfoliate skin and moisturize dry skin; and prevent wrinkles. Yogurt also contains zinc, which has anti-inflammatory properties that calm redness or swelling caused by acne.

Benefits to using yogurt on your skin

  • Reduces dryness
  • Calms redness and irritation
  • Fights wrinkles
  • Natural moisturizer and brightener
  • Exfoliating
  • Anti-aging
  • Calms sunburn
  • Inexpensive and easy to use!

I often put plain yogurt on my face for the benefits above, and recently I’ve discovered the amazing benefits of using frankincense essential oil for skincare. I put several drops in my moisturizing lotion and apply it neat (undiluted) to my face every night before bed over my fermented cod liver oil body butter to prevent wrinkles. Recently I decided to whip up a face mask and decided to combine yogurt and frankincense hoping for amazing results. I was not disappointed! And it’s so quick and easy: It takes only a couple of minutes to prepare.

Your skin will be soft, dewy, and radiant! Here is what my skin looks like after I wash it off. No filter!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is full fat yogurt good for your skin?

Plain organic full fat yogurt contains lactic acid, a natural alpha hydroxy acid that gently exfoliates and smooths skin. It removes dead cells while delivering beneficial fats that support hydration. This combination leaves skin softer, brighter, and more balanced.

How does yogurt help reduce dryness and redness?

Yogurt acts as a natural moisturizer due to its fat content and creamy texture. Zinc and probiotics may calm inflammation linked to acne or sensitivity. The cooling effect can reduce redness, soothe irritation, and support the skin barrier function.

What are the anti aging benefits of a yogurt face mask?

Lactic acid promotes gentle exfoliation, which can improve uneven texture and reduce the look of fine lines. By increasing hydration and supporting mild cell turnover, yogurt may help skin appear smoother, fresher, and more evenly toned with regular use.

What does frankincense add to this face mask?

Frankincense essential oil is traditionally used to support skin tone and elasticity. When blended with yogurt, it may enhance calming effects and help improve the appearance of fine lines and dullness, promoting a more radiant complexion.

How do you make the yogurt and frankincense mask?

Mix one tablespoon of plain full fat yogurt with about six drops of frankincense essential oil. Stir until blended. Apply a generous layer to clean skin, leave on for 10 to 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water and pat dry.

How often can you use this natural face treatment?

Use this mask once or twice weekly for best results. Lactic acid can gently exfoliate, so daily use may irritate sensitive skin. Begin slowly and monitor how your skin responds before increasing frequency.

Who should avoid using this mask?

Individuals with dairy allergies, rosacea, or very reactive skin should proceed with caution. Essential oils can cause irritation in some people. Always perform a small patch test before applying the mixture to the entire face.
