Meet Mary Vance, Certified Nutrition Consultant
Hi there! I’m Mary, and I’ve been helping people kick candida and heal their guts for almost 15 years using real food and natural therapies. I myself have successfully overcame candida overgrowth, and I have a proven formula now that works just as well for my clients!
With my nutrition clients, I’ve found success with a personalized approach, never a one-size-fits-all diet or protocol, because everyone is different! I help you learn what foods are right for your physiology. My holistic approach includes lifestyle modifications, stress relief, sleep, and a focus on emotional wellbeing.
In my practice, I use the principles of functional medicine and nutrition. I have degrees from Emory University and Bauman College and have studied functional medicine under Dr Daniel Kalish, my mentor. You can read all about me here and my coaching practice here. When I’m not geeking out on nutrition, I’m all over California: enjoying the Northern California beaches and Mendocino coast; lake life and skiing in the Sierras; hiking with my dogs; and hanging out with friends and hitting the farmers’ markets in SoCal.
Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the “3 Secrets” approach different from a standard candida diet?
It challenges the typical “no sugar, no starch” model by focusing on how over‑restriction can hurt thyroid and metabolism, while emphasising restoration of gut ecology, hormones and lifestyle, not simply starving yeast.
How does thyroid or hormonal health factor into effective candida treatment?
The first secret explains that a slowed metabolism or low thyroid/adrenal function creates an environment where yeast thrives, so balancing hormones and supporting glands is fundamental rather than optional in a candida‑protocol.
Why is gut repair and microbial reinoculation included in the 3‑step protocol?
Because eliminating yeast (kill phase) without repairing the gut lining and restoring beneficial flora leaves you vulnerable to relapse. Secret 3 focuses heavily on reinoculation and rebuilding a healthy gut terrain.
What kind of dietary modifications are recommended in this protocol?
Rather than excluding all carbs and fruit, you follow a personalised gut‑healing diet: avoiding refined sugar, gluten, dairy and high‑glycemic starches, while still including proteins, healthy fats, and moderate lower‑sugar fruits and starches based on individual
What realistic timeframe does the article suggest for meaningful results?
The article suggests a structured phases approach, typically 4‑8 weeks for diet & kill phases, followed by a gut‑repair and reinoculation period; full transformation often takes several months of consistent work.
